I am requesting items that can be used to bring the visual arts outdoors! My goals with this project are to provide art supplies that can be used by students outdoors to create art that is inspired by what they see in nature or by creating art when they feel calm and relaxed by being outside. In a rural area mountainous area, after a long dreary winter, I am hoping these materials will restore students spirits and joy, encouraging positive mental health.
The outdoor easels I intend to mount on the fence outside of my classroom to allow students access during recess time to create and enjoy their art.
The chalk, paint markers, and paper are the supplies that I am requesting are the materials that they will need in order to use the easels.
My students love art and I think bringing this opportunity outside will be unique for them. I also think that some students, that don't enjoy the big gross motor activities of recess time, will find a special niche for themselves in this area, helping them to find their place and express themselves through art.
