Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The world of art can be an AMAZING experience! My students have not had the opportunity to discover the world of art on a more artistic level. My students aspire to be artists of today and of the future.
My students are comprised of Latino and African-American students.
They come from a low socioeconomic area where they are not given many opportunities to explore the many museums and art exhibits that are in the Los Angeles area. They attend a school that caters to other core subject areas before Visual Arts, not providing the needed supplies in order for teachers to effectively teach art standards for 4th grade.
My Project
Students would be able to use the oil pastels, charcoal, and canvas sheets to creative fabulous art pieces that they would have never imagined creating before with just the paint and construction paint that they are given to use for art every year. Collages can be created with the collage materials that will enable students to increase their abilities to use their creative beyond measure. Students like hands-on activities that allow them to make their own choices about what they are creating. Watercolors will allow students to be able to use another medium of paint to create more artwork.
The impact that the Visual Arts component can bring to today's classroom would be astronomical.
The children in my teaching area would have a chance to touch upon their artistic side and show the world something that is new, refreshing, and beautiful.
