Visual Aids for Special Education Students

My students need a printer and ink to make visual schedules and supports to follow our daily routine. This will help with student behavior and accountablitlity.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Scherff's classroom raised $221

My Students

Our classroom has a lot of structure and organization that helps the students prepare themselves for what is happening on a day to day basis. My students have behavior and mental health concerns/struggles that are ongoing. By providing visual supports they are able to use their coping strategies.

The students are in a small group setting which allows them to progress in the curriculum.

The students in my class are in intensive therapy for behavior and mental health issues. They range in ages from 5-7 years old. Real life prictures allow them to make connections to themselves and be prepared for what is happening within their day. This allows them to ability to feel in control by know what is coming next. The school is located in an area that is at poverty level and does not have a lot of resources available for students with special needs. Our school promotes a postive safe and respectful environment.

My Project

The printer would be used to print out symbols and lessons to do social stories and group sessions with speech and language as well as psychological services. In additon it will be used to reinforce academics and literacy activies. They will learn appropriate ways to deal with feelings of anger, frustration and sadness in a healthy and positive way, as well as, visually support what we are working on in reading, writing, math and across the curriculum.

This donation will improve the learning in our classroom by providing the visual supports that are needed to feel organized and on track with expections in day to day life.

It will teach them how to carry over the use of organization strategies outside of the school day.
