Can you imagine being able to travel the world without leaving your school's auditorium? Our school is an Environmental Studies Magnet Elementary school, and we want to visit the world through technology. However, our school was built in the 1920's and needs modern upgrades to do so.
We are a Title 1 school that is committed to closing the achievement gap by empowering our students with a sense of environmental awareness & leadership with an appreciation for the natural world.
We have many different languages spoken here including, but not limited to, Farsi, Hebrew, Arabic, Spanish, French, Korean, Punjabi, Hindi, and several languages of Africa.
My Project
We will use the technology (screen, laser projector, ceiling mount, DVD and Blue Ray player) in our auditorium to not only show documentaries about our world but to set up virtual field trips as well. We will be able to SKYPE with NASA astronauts, Redwood Forest Rangers or Monterey Aquarium Marine Biologists (just to begin with).
Being able to stay locally yet think globally will impact our students who rarely get the opportunities to travel.
Having this technology will allow us to travel to foreign places. In today's world, where educational demands are high, yet resources are limited this project would expand our students horizons. It will allow them an all access pass to the world.
