Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school, founded in 1965, is a preschool education program dedicated to enriching the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of children from birth to age five. The program offers comprehensive health, nutritional, and other support services to children and parents in order to help families reach self-sufficiency. We are a private non-profit organization that provides services in Luzerne and Wyoming Counties. All families enrolled in this program are living at or below 100% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. This organization recognizes the importance of implementing a two-generational learning approach that equally engages children and families, as it works to provide educational access and opportunity to the community's most vulnerable. We are dedicated to helping children attain school readiness and build a strong educational foundation.
My Project
Students in my Head Start bilingual classroom will use the varied materials to engage in interactive activities as they learn at home.
These learning kits will assist students in building a strong foundation in early education.
These materials will directly assist students enhance their language and literacy skills. Students will participate in hands-on activities like counting, writing, reading, and categorizing to ensure they will be ready for kindergarten.
Most importantly, these individualized materials will allow parents to be involved in their child's education, as students continue learning remotely in the safety of their homes.
