Virtual Teaching Tools for Special Education Classroom

My Students

We are a very special group of kids. They have severe orthopedic impairments and are all learning to speak using AAC devices to meet their complex communication needs. These kids are really hardworking and are learning to self-feed, walk, and communicate in our class. We also work on functional academic skills to help our students to navigate their world. Switching to digital education means that I am in need of some more engaging teaching supplies for my students. I would like to create a mini classroom in a corner of my home with engaging tools for my virtual lessons.

My Project

My students are doing a great job at participating in our virtual zoom meetings. Teaching from my dinning room can be a bit tricky. This magnetic board and fun colorful magnetic story sets will help me to provide some fun and engaging literacy sessions with my students. My students are working on listening to a story and recalling the events that happened in the story. These books will provide my students with some great visuals to help them to work on these skills. The magnets will also make it easy for me to display these visuals as I read the story.
