Virtual Reality to See the World!

Help me give my students iPod Touches so they can go on virtual field trips to places such as the international space station or Antarctica via Google Expeditions. These devices paired with VR goggles create endless possibilities!

My Students

I teach in a college town with a VERY wide array of kiddos. I share my classroom with students from various countries and cultures. I teach students that need to be challenged and students who need extra accommodations to stay focused.

We celebrate diversity and embrace our different heritages, cultures and learning styles.

We respect each other and help each other reach our full potential. We all learn together and we learn from each other. We strive to have a growth mindset and appreciate our failures and learn from them, rather than be embarrassed by them.

I am always searching for ways to give my students the best possible educational experience. I look for diverse books that reflect my diverse kids. I look for STEM projects and supplies to prepare them for their 21st century futures. Join me in creating a classroom that inspires my kids to love learning.

My Project

I plan to use these iPod Touches with VR goggles to take my students on a Google Expedition. Google Expeditions is an app that uses virtual reality to see places all over the world using 360-degree images.

My students can see places such as the International Space Station, The Great Wall of China, and penguins and whales living in Antarctica!

This is a PRICELESS experience that will engage my students and empower them with experiences - if they can gain access to the necessary materials.

In addition to Google Expeditions, the iPod Touches could be used to create digital portfolios with apps such as Seesaw, to connect families and display their school work. Students can take photos of their projects, read their writing aloud, or take a video of themselves reading a book. Their families can connect to this app, view their portfolio and leave comments for their child to see. This sense of audience is a huge engaging quality that adds so much motivation to every day tasks. With these iPod Touches, the possibilities are endless.
