Help me give my students the experience of read alouds that engage them in math and science concepts.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Thomas's classroom raised $355
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students live and attend school in an urban neighborhood. Our school is Title One and all students receive free breakfast and lunch. However, the first half of our school year will be virtual. This will present many challenges and we are doing our best to be prepared and well equipped.
My students are curious, bright, and hard working.
They enjoy interacting and collaborating. Relationship building is integral no matter if the teaching is in person or virtual. Keeping students interested and engaged is vital to helping them cultivate a love for learning.
My Project
During our synchronous learning, I will read the story books at the beginning of new units. This will help to engage the students in upcoming concepts and skills. This selection incorporates math and science while highlighting females and POC in these fields.
Read alouds will be even more imperative during our virtual learning.
The books are a great tool for interacting with the students. The stories will lead them to questions and ideas to discuss whole group. Students may be inspired to create their own storybooks or graphic novels that are non fiction. Cross curricular learning will also be promoted.
