This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am currently teaching 25 fifth grade, self-contained gifted students. They come from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. My students have all been tested and identified as gifted learners. However, what makes them special to me is their ability to adjust to new circumstances and ways of learning.
One of the many things that I love about my gifted students is their unequivocal desire to ask questions.
Their curiosity challenges me to constantly find ways to motivate them by enhancing and enriching the curriculum.
My Project
Education has always evolved with new pedagogy but never like it has due to COVID-19. My way of teaching has taken a new role that has revolutionized the way I connect with my students. I am now teaching remotely and my students are both physically in class and at home distance learning. Technology has surfaced and replaced my traditional classroom with a hybrid classroom.
Keeping up with dual modalities is my new "normal", so having the right tools is not a luxury, but rather a necessity.
After being funded for a Surface Pro, I quickly realized that I still depend on some familiar tools to save time and keep up. I need a keyboard and mouse to be more efficient in creating online resources for my students. Furthermore, I am also thinking of protecting the device so that it lasts as long as possible.
