This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have had the pleasure of teaching some amazing students over the past few years. I teach in a Title I elementary school in an urban school setting. My students come from a variety of backgrounds with a large population of English Language Learners.

They are bright, young, and passionate students who come to school eager and ready to learn every day.

I am constantly trying to better myself as a teacher to better serve my students! In efforts to transition to a virtual setting, I am working on bettering myself as a teacher to reach my students and continue to support and foster their learning.

My Project

I am requesting funds to attend the Orton-Gillingham training virtually. Being able to help students learn the foundations needed to read and comprehend is fostered at a young age. During this time of virtual schools, it is important now more than ever to help continue to teach those foundations to students even through a computer screen.

This conference will allow me to learn, not only better strategies to help my students read, but also help me teach them virtually.

With this new age of learning online, it is important to learn as much as you can to continue to help your students learn. I hope that with this training, I can get a better insight on how I can help all my students succeed!
