This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a 4th/5th grade teacher in California. Due to the coronavirus pandemic we have moved to distance learning. None of us could have predicted that we would be teaching and learning from home for this long and still unsure about our future.

Teachers were allowed to grab materials that we figured we would need.

My students have been used to using many of our online programs already, so that is not the assistance I need. They are working hard, but I would like to be able to do more of the teaching I'm used to.

I do have my computer, but find myself missing my overhead capabilities and being able to take notes/highlight/draw while I teach, how I do in class.

My Project

With this document reader, I can do the note taking, drawing, journaling, bullet points, etc., in real time with them, through zoom. I want to be able to continue giving my students the same learning environment we had in class, so they are used to taking notes while I model. Those notes that we do together, become the information they use to help them do their independent work. We practice citing text, inferring, finding themes, math problems, and so much more, together, and that leads them to be successful on their own.
