Virtual Learning: The New Normal

Help me give my students an ergonomic chair for their online SPED Instructional Coach who works remotely.

My Students

My middle school students with diverse learning needs have opted to attend school in a virtual environment. Our school is a public Title I online school that has over 11,000 students. A vast majority of the student population is served through a Special Education Program. Despite the fact that we are totally virtual; they are able to form collaborative relationships with their peers through interactive group activities. My students login to class each day ready to learn new and innovative concepts that will guide their academic growth and development.

Many people do not understand the dedication of a student who has a learning disability.

Oftentimes they have to work three times as hard to attain grade level performance standards. The beauty is that they never give up! I too will never give up my quest to make their virtual experience one where they can be engaged in academically challenging explorations.

My Project

My new role requires me to meet the needs of Exceptional Education students in a virtual environment. Since our school is totally virtual, it is necessary for me to have a work space that is suitable for sitting 8-10 hours a day. An ergonomic chair will provide the comfort that is needed while focusing on the needs of the students that I serve.

A typical work week for me consists of: attending virtual class sessions; reviewing online lesson plans; attending virtual student IEP meetings; and hosting virtual collaborative meetings with special education teachers.

This chair will be used continuously throughout the day. Having an appropriate chair helps to ensure that I am prepared to serve students daily without physical constraints.
