This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students and I will begin this school year with a distance/remote learning model. Since my students will be learning from home, they will be presented with a variety of challenges; such as added distractions and lack of supplies. I will not be able to see my students in person and this connection is one of the most important tools I have to help them succeed. Although this is a challenging and not an ideal situation our health and safety are the utmost priority.
It is my goal to make the best out of this less than ideal situation and do everything in my power to create a learning environment for my students that is positive, engaging, and effective.
I am provided with a laptop to conduct distance learning on, however, as I learned from our digital learning experience in March-May, our students need vivid visuals, organization tools, and effective sound to help them succeed.
This project will provide my students with the proper tools to help them be successful during this terrible pandemic.
My Project
During the journey of virtual learning, my students and I have made many discoveries. Among those is, a virtual lesson is only effective if it can be seen and heard. One of the biggest obstacles I have faced as an educator during the remote learning process has been dealing with technical difficulties due to computer audio and visuals.
The ability to prerecord my lesson on a high-quality device will greatly improve my students' access to high-quality lessons.
As of right now, I am using my personal phone for this and it has proven to be ineffective.
After the pandemic is over I can continue to use this device to record videos for students to use for extra clarification as well as record students giving presentations, readers theatre performances, "newscasts" and many other creative learning opportunities.
