This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students all come from families with low income families. I teach at a Title I school where all of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students are currently facing many challenges due to COVID-19. Despite their many challenges, my amazing students are eager to learn and explore.
I want to make virtual learning more interactive, but my students do not have the basic supplies they need at home.
Although school is closed, students’ learning shouldn’t stop.
My Project
During our time away from school, my students have been busy continuing their learning. Students are using their tools and supplies they took home from the classroom, and for some students, the tools were left behind. Although we try to make the majority of the learning online, some of the learning has been through packets and copy worksheets. These supplies will allow them to continue to be creative and complete assignments at home through distance learning.
Active engagement is a key component to successful learning.
With these new distance learning protocols, many of our students are under-served with the basics needs. These tools may seem simple, but they will mean the world to my students. With your help, we can make this happen.
