My Students

I teach about 60-70 fun, creative, and energetic 5th-grade students. I teach three sections of English Language Arts a day at a small, public school in northern New Jersey. In our class we study reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar.

My goal is to help my students be successful readers and writers in 5th grade and beyond.

I want to create an organized, resource-filled room for them where they can thrive.

My students come from many different backgrounds and have diverse needs and abilities. In our classroom, we are one family!

With this year being mostly virtual, I am looking to find ways to continue to engage my students in reading and writing instruction.

My Project

Due to the current pandemic, my class will be fully virtual until at least mid-November. We will then, hopefully, move into a hybrid model, where students will learn from home part-time. A document camera will help to make my lessons more engaging for students and help me to provide clear instruction and examples. In reading, I will be able to show the books we are reading and the passages we are analyzing more clearly. In writing, I will be able to model for students' the skills and strategies we are learning. I am looking to make this new, virtual experience as easy, engaging, and meaningful for the students as possible, and I believe a document camera will be a huge help in achieving this goal!
