My Students

My fantastic fourth-grade math, science, and social studies students are a colorful bunch. They come with a plethora abilities, languages, backgrounds, cultures, and incomes. Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, we are now faced with having to provide distance learning and virtual class sessions. Many teachers miss seeing their school 'babies', I know I do. And my students miss seeing their classmates. We are a family.

My home computer does not have a camera, so I have been using my smartphone to communicate with my students.

Next week, teachers are expected to have weekly face-to-face sessions. I am unable to do that with my phone.

Success is my vision for them even during these uncertain times. I have read that, where there is no vision the people perish. In order for them to be successful, I need the proper tools and resources.

My Project

Virtual learning has become our new normal. Teachers and students need to continue with appropriate instruction and rich conversations. Video conferencing is only effective with the right type of computer device.

Our new education delivery is now distance learning.

This laptop will allow me to see all of my students during our face-to-face sessions. When concepts are being explained, all of my students will be able to see me work out the math applications and provide feedback. My students will also be able to show theirs together during practice reviews on this device.
