Help me give my students essential supplies such as colored pencils, notepads, and scissors to elevate their learning at home in our virtual classroom.
The families of my 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students have chosen our virtual learning option. The Virtual Learning Option is one of the very few virtual learning choices in the state of Louisiana that is operated by a public school system. Our virtual learning option is 100% free to families. The Public School System is able to provide a Chromebook and a set of math workbooks to each student. However, there are lots of other basic supplies that our virtual students need to foster their learning at home, and we simply have no funding to provide these materials.
Most of the students we serve are on the lower rung of the socioeconomic ladder.
Purchasing colored pencils, notebooks, and more would be a hardship for most of our families. In order for me to be able to provide the very best education for my students, I need them to have these basic supplies at home so that each student can actively engage and participate in our live virtual lessons. If my students do not have access to these basic supplies, their learning will greatly suffer. I plan to organize these essential supplies into learning kits to send home with each of my students. I can imagine that receiving brand-new school supplies will put a smile on their faces and motivate them to actively engage in their learning.
