Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year I am excited to be in a 2-3 multi-age classroom. My students come from diverse backgrounds and each one brings a unique strength to share and make our classroom a true learning hub.
The goal for this year is to know what compassion is, practice compassion, and spread compassion to all that we interact with.
We will be reading the book Wonder by R.J. Palacios and will close read to understand the underlying message of compassion and kindness that the book is drenched with.
I am very excited this year for my students as they learn to use technology to do research on various topics such as Animal Habitat and Adaptations. They will learn about primary sources and secondary sources and how to cite mentor work. Furthermore, this year we are launching our new science curriculum - Project Lead The Way, which is a comprehensive curriculum that will prepare my students as they move up the grades.
This year is full of new learning and new beginnings!
My Project
This school year has come with many twists and turns! Yet it will be the best year ever since our creativity will be at its peak! This year my students will experience a new way of learning - virtually! I will not be there to physically to guide them or hold their hands.
So I want them to have math manipulatives to explore rich math tasks at home as they learn to make sense of numbers and look for patterns.
I would also like to add to my library diverse books that I can read to them that will teach them empathy and diversity. Books that demonstrate inclusiveness and oneness!
