Because of you, our students now have access to a full set of core literature books and flexible seating options that are truly transforming how we read and learn together.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is no longer just an individual task—it's a shared experience. With each student holding their own copy of the book, we're able to dive into stories together in real time. We stop to ask questions, make predictions, highlight powerful quotes, and connect emotionally with characters. These books have introduced key reading and thinking skills like analyzing character development, identifying literary themes, understanding symbolism, and supporting opinions with textual evidence. Students are learning not just what happens in a story, but why it matters.\r\n\r\nThe flexible seating has made a surprising difference too! Students are more focused, engaged, and comfortable. Whether it's a wobble stool, a floor cushion, or a standing desk, each student can choose what helps them concentrate best. Reading has become something they look forward to—something they can settle into and enjoy.\r\n\r\nOne student who has really blossomed with these new books. He used to be reluctant to read out loud or participate, but after we started our new class novel, he found a character he related to—and now he raises his hand to share insights almost every day. Another student, has found her voice in writing thoughtful responses during our literature circles, which we hold around a cozy corner thanks to the new flexible seating.\r\n\r\nYour gift has made reading more inclusive, more meaningful, and more enjoyable for all of us. Thank you for bringing stories (and comfort!) into our classroom. You've helped create a space where students feel inspired to think, read deeply, and fall in love with books.","fullyFundedDate":1731566601231,"projectUrl":"project/books-seats-building-a-dynamic-learni/8597147/","projectTitle":"Books & Seats: Building a Dynamic Learning Space","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ruvalcaba","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7240526_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y19&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1646783326258","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrskruvalcaba"},{"teacherId":5578473,"projectId":8782036,"letterContent":"I am so grateful for the impact your generous donation has had on our classroom. The new flexible seating options have truly transformed our learning environment. Students are now able to choose the seating that works best for them, whether it's the light, stackable stools that are easy to move around, the adjustable wobble chairs, or the comfortable new ocean print carpet. This flexibility has allowed for a more dynamic classroom atmosphere where students feel comfortable, engaged, and able to focus on their work in a way that suits their individual needs.\r\n\r\nThe excitement in the classroom when the materials were delivered was absolutely palpable. As soon as the ocean print carpet arrived, the students were immediately drawn to it, commenting on how cozy and inviting it felt. It quickly became a favorite spot for independent reading and group activities. When the wobble chairs were introduced, students were thrilled to discover that they were adjustable to accommodate all sizes, making them even more inclusive. It's been amazing to see students taking ownership of their learning spaces and moving around the classroom freely to find what helps them focus best.\r\n\r\nOne of the most popular additions has been the sleigh tables, which give students the option to sit on the floor while still having a functional desk to work at. This has made a huge difference for those who prefer a more relaxed seating arrangement. While these resources have already made a tremendous difference, our only wish is to have more sleigh tables and wobble chairs to ensure that every student has the seating option that works best for them. Your donation has had a lasting impact on our classroom, and I can't thank you enough for helping to create a space where every student can thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1731555923635,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-empowered-learners/8782036/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating = Empowered Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Graetz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5578473_272x272.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1533338680241","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5578473"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_37266","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":659,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":41,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":23,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":61,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"22.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":87.8,"schoolId":37266,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Valley Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Valley Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/poway-unified-school-district/valley-elementary-school/37266"}
