Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are smart, motivated, and caring kids who are excited to come to school and learn every day. They are interested in learning all they can in order to find their true passions.

Our middle school is a diverse high-needs school of about 1,400 sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students.

Almost 50% qualify for free or reduced-rate lunches. Many of our students receive services including ENL, special education, and academic intervention. Despite the many obstacles my students face, they are hardworking, passionate, and enthusiastic about learning. They inspire me.

My Project

Our school district is currently using the hybrid model to safely educate our students during this new COVID affected world. The students are learning synchronously three times a week and asynchronously twice a week. To be able to reach all my students and deliver meaningful lessons on a daily basis, I have converted my lessons to digital lessons that students can access while in person or while learning on their own at home. The challenge is that not every student has the ability to bring their device to school. I am requesting this Chromebook for my students that would need access to one either at while they are home or while they are at school. Our district has done an amazing job at supplying as many students as they can with Chromebooks and I would like to continue to support my students with this project.
