My Students
I mostly teach biology, so my students are inquisitive and interested in science. They like to be hands-on so I'm hoping our course will be able to provide that for them, even virtually.
Being virtual is going to be a challenge for many teachers, especially those with hands-on activities, like labs.
My DonorsChoose projects will hopefully aid in making their experience enjoyable while still providing them the instruction they need.
Our school is one of the most diverse schools in our county. We have students from various economic backgrounds and are trying to meet the needs of those students that need our help. I love that our students feel safe and at home when coming to our school. Building relationships with my students is one of the main reasons I teach, and helping those students find hope in their future (especially in science)...well, there is nothing like it.
My Project
As a biology teacher, I need resources to be able to reach my students virtually while still teaching to the NC state standards. I need to be able to use labs as a way to show students examples of methodology and science.
Because we are now virtual, I will be preforming the labs by myself in my classroom.
I can use the tripod to hold my phone at different angles to demonstrate my labs instead of having to hold it myself.
The microscope will be used to show my students slides that I've made as well as pre-made slides and can be connected to my computer so that they will be able to see the images virtually at home.
