This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Knowledge gained through experience is far superior and many times more useful than bookish knowledge." -Mahatma Gandhi
Do you remember all the things you learned in science or history class? Could a visit to an ecosystem or the Statue of Liberty have made a difference on the learning experience?
The students at our school come from a socioeconomically low area with a lack of parental and financial support.
Many of our students have very limited access to basic materials and technology in their homes. Due to this limited access, the teachers do their best to provide the students with exciting and motivating learning opportunities.
My Project
When students are learning something new, the world wide web is a great resource. It provides our students with an amazing extension to what we teach and what they read. Utilizing the tablet and QR Code technology, students will be led on virtual field trips. The QR Codes will direct the students to amazing virtual tours, fact filled websites, images and videos when learning something you. The virtual field trips will be intertwined with book research and hands-on activities to bring what they are learning to life.
Imagine visiting King Tut's tomb, going on an African safari, walking on the moon or chatting with students from around the world. Simple links prepared by the educator and represented by QR codes, takes the time students would use in searching the Internet and takes them right to the source and into an exciting experience.
Your donations will bring what used to be taught through book and lectures to life.
The familiarity and accessibility to technology will create new learning experiences that will last a lifetime.
