My Students

I teach 6th grade Humanities at a Chicago Public School. My students are wonderfully passionate and curious about the world that they are living in. They are constantly asking questions, and making connections to the past and present. They are currently learning about ancient civilizations. They all share a great love for technology, and this project would allow them to actually travel to these civilizations and truly understand the impact these ancient worlds have had on our world today. My students are very diverse. The majority of my students come from low income families. Most are native Spanish speakers, but we have students that speak 4 languages other than Spanish. I also have two co-taught inclusion classes.

My Project

These VR headsets will give my students the opportunity to travel and explore the ancient worlds they are learning about in class. This an amazing opportunity for them to actually experience these places that existed thousands of years ago, and truly form a deeper understanding of how the past and present can impact the future. Students will be able to take virtual field trips, both together or independently. They will become better inquirers through the journeys they set out on.

This product will enhance the classroom environment and allow students to be engaged in, and interact with the classroom content.
