My Project
An iPad and headphones will provide students with a designated space to calm down, refocus, and build self-regulation skills. Using apps like Calm, Smiling Mind, and GoNoodle, students will engage in guided breathing exercises, mindfulness activities, and relaxation techniques when they feel overwhelmed. This will help them return to class ready to learn rather than shutting down or acting out due to frustration. The iPad will also allow students to listen to calming music, watch peaceful nature scenes, or follow along with self-soothing exercises, providing them with personalized emotional support when they need it most.
This Virtual Calming Corner will be a game-changer for students who struggle with emotional regulation.
Throughout the school day, students will be able to take a short break to use the iPad, helping them reset their emotions and improve their focus in class. For example, a student experiencing anxiety before a test can use a breathing exercise app to reduce stress and boost confidence. A student who feels frustrated after a difficult situation with a peer can listen to a guided meditation to regain composure. These tools will empower students to manage their emotions independently and return to learning with a clear mind and a positive attitude.
My students are resilient, curious, and eager to succeed, but many face emotional challenges that make it difficult to focus. This Virtual Calming Corner will provide them with the skills and resources they need to thrive, both academically and emotionally. By supporting this project, you are helping students develop lifelong coping strategies that will benefit them far beyond the classroom. Thank you for making a difference in their well-being and success!
