This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work with an incredible group of high school students who are on the autism spectrum, specifically high-functioning ASD. They are bright, eager to learn, and love hands-on experiences that make their learning more engaging and practical. One of the biggest challenges they face is navigating social situations, developing executive functioning skills, and preparing for life transitions like going to college or starting a job.
I'm requesting a Meta Quest VR headset to provide an immersive learning experience that can help these students practice real-world scenarios in a safe, controlled environment.
With virtual reality, they can work on building social skills, managing daily routines, and developing problem-solving strategies, which will have a lasting impact on their ability to thrive in and outside of school.
These students are special because they are hardworking and determined, and they deserve every opportunity to succeed. The VR headset will open up a new world of possibilities for them.
