My Students

My scholars are an energetic bunch of second graders who have a love for learning. These scholars come from a low socioeconomic background where many of them are living with various relatives or in temporary housing. This year my students are facing the difficult tasks of learning virtually at home.

I am hoping to gather these books to go with our ELA curriculum. I want to be able to present read alouds for my students. I have also gathered books on character education and emotions. I would like to support my students through this virtual learning at home emotionally and socially, not only in an academic way.

My Project

This collection of books will be used to promote a positive and supportive social and emotional learning environment at home for my students. These titles will allow our class to discuss feelings and emotions that we are all feeling during this virtual time.

The second collection of books support our ELA (English Language Arts) curriculum.

It will allow me to use books to model fluent and "good" reading for my students as we move through the year. I know my students will enjoy listening to the stories being shared with them.
