My students are wonderful, happy, fun students who come from a neighborhood that sees a lot of violence and tension both in their community and on the news. We are a neighborhood right in the city of St. Louis.
I work with urban ESL students who are eager to learn the language and grow as new participants in our school system.
It is an amazing group of sweet students stuck in the middle of a rough neighborhood.
Our students are so resilient, more than they should be at this age, and I believe with the proper supplies they'll keep being resilient and reach success in life as well.
My students have been learning from home since the school year began. All of the resources we traditionally use in the classroom such as colorful anchor charts with pictures and examples are not as practical in the virtual platform.
I was lucky enough to get a donation for virtual anchor charts during the first quarter, and they were tremendously helpful for ALL of our students.
A visual representation allows students to connect vocabulary terms to definitions and offers the opportunity to create background knowledge by connecting with their own experiences or translations.
I'd like to provide my students with more Virtual Anchor Charts through a donation for a gift card to Teachers Pay Teachers, where resources are teacher-made.
