I will have 29 third graders for the 2016-2017 school year. We are a Title I school and have a large majority of students on free/reduced lunch.
My school has over 300 students and we focus on student success as well as academic achievement.
They typically come from single-parent households. My students are hard working, creative, and excited to learn. They challenge me as a teacher to be the best I can be. I am here to help them succeed, regardless of our challenges.
My Project
I want my students to experience reading as a VIP! We need multiple copies of books to support the VIP experience, individualized book bins, and flashlights to support our "Flashlight Friday" VIP experience! On Fridays, students get a fun and exciting experience. The classroom lights get turned down and students will get to read with flashlights! The book bins will support each student gathering their weekly book collection that supports their reading levels. The multiple copies of books will support my students' reading with a small group at their level. This will build their comprehension and fluency as a reader. Help me to make my students engage in reading as a very important person!
More than half of students from low‑income households
