My Students
West High is an urban school in downtown Salt Lake City.
Most students don't have a performance group to play with.
Our performing ensembles are a great way to get kids to experience success at what they can do. Learning the skills, dedication, perseverance and teamwork needed to be part of a performing group are the same skills they will need after high school in any other job or project they are involved in.
My Project
Music does more than just make sounds, it changes the way students think and act. The skills they learn in music will help them be successful on the stage, in the classroom, and for the rest of their lives.
The viola is an instrument that is commonly overlooked as an important part of the orchestra.
But it is vital to creating the warmth and depth of sound that is essential for a good sound. Also, students who play viola have an easier time getting scholarships to college and employment later.
I need a viola that will fit some of my smaller students and give them an opportunity to enjoy this amazing instrument.
