Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are an amazing group of diverse learners in an urban setting. About 90% are economically disadvantaged and all receive free lunch and breakfast. Our group has many students who speak another language other than English (ESL) and others with various special needs.
They are a very inquisitive bunch!
They cannot wait to see what’s next! They enjoy learning in many different ways and love anything that involves hands-on learning. Learning by doing often works wonders for this group of students.
Due to COVID 19 we finished the school year virtually. We do not know what the upcoming school year will look like.
My Project
I never imagined myself teaching from my living room, but that was the case in the spring. We don’t know what the upcoming year will look like, but I want to be ready for whatever comes my way. My students worked extremely hard while they were at home, but some improvements can be made to make things less difficult for them.
This document camera, ring light, and iPad mount will help make learning easier for all of us.
Having a document camera at home will allow me to be able to show students steps of projects and science experiments as I explain them. This will be awesome for my students who read at a lower level, have English as a second language, or other special needs. The ring light and iPad mount will allow me to make better videos of myself teaching for my students. No more crazy shadows! Video stardom, here I come!
When we return to school, these items will be used in my classroom.
