My Students
My students love watching Mythbusters and looking at how moving objects react using their video analysis. They have the desire and know-how, but not the equipment to perform these experiments.
My students come form a variety of backgrounds and are all bright and capable of great things.
Recently there has been a sharp upturn in students who cannot afford to bring the necessary materials, and need our help. They study Physics and Engineering and need access to the basic support technology that we can provide. They compete in regional events in engineering design and physics and cannot do so without these tools.
My Project
From previous grants we already have the computers and there is amazing video software available for free that some of my students have learned to use at home. We just need to purchase an HD video camera to make these experiments possible. This camera will be a great first step into a world using technology to prove all of the concepts they have already begun to master.
I want to keep science as something to be done in the classroom then in their everyday lives, and not just something to watch on the discovery channel.
This project will be a great first step to achieving this goal!
