My Students

The students in my Second Grade classroom come in each day excited to learn. They are kind and caring students who try so hard all day long no matter their challenges!

Some students have a daily struggle when they go home.

Their parents work and cannot be there for them to help with homework. There are many families in this small community of upstate New York who are generational welfare. They themselves struggled with academics and do not have a positive value on school and school work. It can be a challenge to keep the excitement spark of learning lit on a daily basis.

Due to the diverse group of learning abilities, differentiation is a must. Every child is unique and that is a wonderful thing! Along with multiple teaching strategies for reading and math, I also encourage each student to be brave and try one new thing each day. We change around our seating frequently, work as partners as well as small group settings and enjoy the moment as it comes!

My Project

All students should have equal opportunities in the classroom. With this easel, students have access to a bigger surface area. This enables them to see step by step what I am writing, drawing or displaying.

Having an easel such as the Copernicus Regal® Reading/Writing Center, will better assist Visual Learners for better comprehension!

This will be helpful to students who need to be up close and personal for comprehension, work out strategies while using manipulatives to solve math problems [money/Ten Frame work for adding and subtracting/Base 10 Blocks for regrouping, etc], read and manipulate sight words, as well as problem solve while seeing the whole picture up close!
