This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Visual artists in training! My students are very enthusiastic about learning and Art! They are in a school of Art that has no color printer. Although they have special needs with multiple disabilities, they are very talented in creating art on computers. It is often difficult for them to verbalize what they want to express, and this would give them an added medium of expression. They are very visual learners and get excited when they see their work displayed. The school is more than 50% low-income inner city.

My Project

My vision is for them to create illustrations to books that they have written and have them displayed in the school display case. My students are visual learners. Their curriculum is for color print, but there is no color printer in the school. There is only one copier/printer for over 60 staff members, which is usually broken. There is no printer in the classroom either. They get excited when I am able to print a paper they wrote and display it. Some of them are great at illustrating their stories using Scratch or other computer programs. They are disappointed when I tell them that I cannot print it.
