it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The math department at my school strongly endorses complex instruction, an approach to teaching mathematics in collaborative groups. One of the ways we bring kids together to solve problems is to give each group their own vertical surface to share mathematical thinking so that they can present their ideas to one another.
Vertical whiteboards are a wonderful collaboration building tool that can be used over and over again in service of equitable instruction.
Kids love to draw on them and, yes there might be some doodles on the board too, but they often do a lot of great work with things they can have fun with.
My students are smart in so many different ways and I would love for them to have this tool so that they can show their thinking to others. They are really great humans who deserve great supplies in their math classroom!
