A block period is a perfect amount of time to test some soil! This Soil Kit would fit in well with my Earth Systems and Resources unit that I plan to do in December 2019. Twenty-five percent of AP Environmental Science is supposed to be hands-on and this seems like a fun alternative to just reading about soil. I tried this lab during my AP training over the summer and thought it was really helpful for determining what types of soil work well for plants. My heart sank when I saw how expensive it was. I also would love for students to bring in their own samples so we can see what's in their own backyard!
