My Project
My 7th grade ELA students are often intimidated by "the blank page" in writing assignments. They need time and space to brainstorm and to try new writing styles without the fear of getting it "wrong."
Vertical spaces have been shown to increase student engagement and creativity.
The erasable nature of white boards sends the message that the work is not permanent and encourages students to try new skills without fear. Having tabletop white boards will allow my students work around the room and in small groups in a low stakes environment. I know this will help them develop the confidence they need to tackle "the blank page" on larger writing assignments.
