My Project

Although 60% of our school come from low-income families, our students have the same dreams and goals of being successful in their future as their counterparts in other districts. Many lack the opportunities or resources at home and rely on their school to provide the hands-on engineering projects like homemade marble runs.

By providing supplies to create vertical magnetic marble runs, students can further engineer their creativity into producing a more intricate design using other forces besides gravity.

After successfully building a magnetic run, they can feel confident in using the rechargeable batteries to create solar-powered and electrical-powered cars.

Project based learning allows students to increase their academic skills as well as learn the requirements of teamwork, critical thinking, communication, responsibility, and grit. Middle school students learn the most by self-discovery. Working with other students on these projects makes learning so much more fun and non-threatening because they see that straight "A" students don't always come in first. By working on homemade projects, students realize that it is simply hard work that develops courage and strength of character.
