My students are an amazing group of excited learners that are always ready to see what they will learn next no matter their ability. I have a diverse classroom of kids from different social backgrounds, various economic backgrounds, and kids that have their own individual style of learning. They come from single-parent homes, some may be raised by their grandparents, or they come from a home where the parents may be divorced.
It is important to give students the opportunity to experience meaningful hands-on instruction.
Students often work in small groups and they work independently in a self-directed work station to reinforce literacy and math skills. This doesn't mean it has to be a pencil and paper each time. They need something engaging and fun to do without taking away learning.
The VersaTiles Literacy Differentiation Kit, Grades 1-6 has hands-on activities that provide differentiated intervention/enrichment activities to meet the needs of all my students, including my below grade level, on grade level, my gifted, inclusion and English Language Learner students. The VersaTiles Literacy Differentiation Kit, Grades 1-6 has skills-based questions that focus on foundational skills and concepts. The kit has self-correcting activities that assess literacy concepts and gives immediate feedback to the students. The VersaTiles Literacy Differentiation Kit, Grades 1-6 can help my students put special emphasis on the various literacy skills that build their reading, phonics and comprehension skills. Students can work at his/her own pace and level. The kit allows them to make mistakes without fear of being embarrassed. This kit allows me to work with my below grade level students by providing hands on intervention in small group and provide enrichment to my students that are above level.
VersaTiles are challenging, fun and they combine the captivating challenge of a puzzle while allowing my students to work independently or collaboratively with a partner.
When my students are having fun, they are more open to learning. When they are having fun, they want to continue doing the activities. Versatility with VersaTiles will make literacy fun and exciting for all my students!
