My Students

Our students are ready and willing to take on the challenges of a 21st-century education. They have many diverse styles of learning and need exposure to 21st-century learning resources. They need to collaborate with their peers and lead by example.

We are 95% African-American, 2% Haitian-American, 2% Hispanic, and 1% Caucasian with 97% of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.

Our school is located in the inner city of Miami, Florida. Although our students are faced with many socio-economic challenges, they seek a high-quality education to become productive citizens.

My Project

The VersaTiles® Math Classroom Kit, for Grades 5 and 6 will provide hands-on math skills practice with a self-checking answer system. VersaTiles helps students build math proficiency in a challenging, rewarding way. Our students will use these resources during independent practice and in small groups during our math station rotations.

To mitigate learning loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic, VersaTiles Math kits will address our students' math content gaps.

The self-checking component will allow students to safely check their work and thinking. Through self-discovery, students will persevere until they obtain the correct answer, thereby building their self-confidence.
