This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is a buzz of activity, focused on giving kids the opportunities that they may not get elsewhere. My 3rd-grade class is in a high-need, low-income public school, nestled in the heart of southern California. Each of the students in my class is a vibrant, excited learner who looks for the next opportunity to gain knowledge.

Each child in my classroom is a unique learner who comes to school each day ready to achieve at the highest levels.

As a teacher, it is my job to make sure the students have access to the materials they need, at all times, as well as use those materials in a way that will facilitate higher learning and achievement.

My Project

This past year was a difficult one. Learning on the computer while trying to navigate all of the new curriculum was a challenge to say the least. However, one thing I came across that made our learning much easier were these set of Versatile boards.

Using Versatile boards are a quick, easy, and fun way to engage the students in all literacy activities.

I found that they loved them so much that it was easy to gain their attention and teach them vital skills. The only problem was that the students took the kits home with them, so I no longer have them to use with my new students. I would love to have these tiles and literacy activities to use with my incoming 3rd grade students.

That is where you come in. This project is for a brand new set of Versatiles as well as the accompanying literacy materials. I know my new students will LOVE them and I can't wait to share these boards with the kids. It will provide a wonderful and rich literacy environment in my classroom.
