This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a second-grade teacher in the city of Chicago. This classroom of learners comes from ethnically diverse, low-income families. There are many challenges that face my learners. Our school provides free breakfast and lunch to all students. My classroom is comprised of English Language Learners, students with Individualized Education Plans, and general education students.
My 30 students are ENERGETIC and EAGER to learn!
My goal is to provide these wonderful students with the educational opportunities necessary to become lifelong learners.
My Project
VersaTiles are an interactive system that utilizes hands-on skills practice. They help students build proficiency in a fun and rewarding way. Students work independently using a self-checking answer system that creates a safe learning environment that increases student confidence.
Students are going to LOVE working on math skills that are hands-on and screen-free.
This system allows students to answer questions by placing numbered tiles in the appropriate answer location. They get to flip the case over and check for accuracy. They continue to self-correct until the tiles form the matching design.
