My Students

My students are the most caring, unique, and energetic students you will meet. All of my students are diagnosed with different disabilities, and many of them are English Language Learners (ELL) as well. They come from low-income families and receive free school breakfast and lunch. Despite all this, they are filled with curiosity and are always eager to learn. The students in my class love to engage in fun activities, especially those that are hands-on.

My students exhibit difficulties with understanding and adjusting to change, so returning to school with a blended learning model, will require organized, fun, independent activities.

My Project

Returning to school with a blended learning model will be, without a doubt, challenging for my students with special needs. In a typical school year, it is difficult to attain all of my students' attention and learning styles. However, now more than ever, students need fun, hands-on, independent activities since they no longer can interact with their peers. This VersaTile Literacy Set will provide my students exactly that. VersaTiles will help my students learn new phonics and reading skills, as well as review previously learned content.

The best part of VersaTiles is that not only is it hands-on or will make learning phonics and reading more fun, but that it promotes self-assessing, which is what every teacher wants for his/her students!

After completing a literacy activity, students get to see if their answers were correct by checking if their tiles match the picture on the bottom of the activity page. This will help build confidence and independence in my students. Additionally, these tiles can be sent home for extra practice to solidify concepts learned in school. These tiles can also be easily shared in the classroom because they are super easy to clean!
