My Students

Computer Science students are learning the basic through advanced concepts of programming in the Software and Systems Development pathway at my school. But not all students learn the same way or come from the same academic background. Many of my students have ADHD and sitting at a desk all day is not conducive to their learning environment.

Changing their learning environment helps them to focus and succeed in class.

The versatility provided by a convertible desk increases productivity, creates a comfortable atmosphere and energizes students. The students can change the desks in the middle of class without disrupting their peers.

My Project

Students with ADHD are challenged with staying focused in class. Studies show that changing positions and movement can help students with ADHD to stay focused and reduce off-task time in class. A typical classroom setting does not allow much "wiggle room" for students to modify their physical position. This convertible desk can be used by all students: sleepy students, students with physical challenges, students with ADHD, and students who lack motivation.

Allowing students the option of standing vs sitting without causing classroom disruptions increases their learning time in class and keeps their learning on task.

The 3M Standing Desk Converter gives them the flexibility to make those changes "on demand" and take ownership of their learning.
