Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In 2nd grade at our school we serve a variety of children who come from a variety of different backgrounds. The students in my classroom all share something in common, they are learning English. Their brains are constantly working hard in two languages and they impress me everyday. I want to make the classroom time as enjoyable and enriching as I possibly can to help them become successful people in the future. My students deserve the best our education can offer them. I don't want them to be held back because of their situation or the financial needs of the district and state.

My Project

Grammar is extremely important for my students who are English Language Learners. I have come to love teaching grammar to my students, but unfortunately my students do not feel the same way. My district provides a great way to teach grammar and I just want to add a few extra pieces to spice it up for my students so that they can learn to love grammar as much as I do. The Part of Speech books will be great for read alouds! My students love when I read books to them and these books have an added bonus of teaching them grammar skills in an enjoyable way. The English Language Learner games will be a great way to incorporate skills we have learned and apply them into a fun and engaging activity.

With these materials my students will be able to apply grammar skills they have learned during engaging grammar activities.

Grammar is the key to success in learning a new language and I want to create students who are as passionate about the subject as I am.
