Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work in an incredibly diverse suburban school district where there are over 50 languages spoken at home and many of our students qualify for the free or reduced lunch program because they are living at or below the poverty line. We strive as a school to inspire our students to be positive global citizens.
Our school has over 50 clubs and activities with over 3500 students grades 9 - 12.
We have 25 varsity sports and 5 academic varsity sports including our newest, the e-Sports Varsity Team, of which I am the head coach.
My Project
A donation here would support my high school's Varsity eSports team. These consoles will help to ensure that my student athletes will be able to compete against other schools in games that are played predominantly on console like Madden, FIFA, NBA2K, and more. Players from these games have already started being recruited by professional teams!
This will also help to support some of my student who wish to become coders in the future.
Coding for games can be difficult, but to play the kind of games that they may one day be working on would be a tremendous help. Hands-on experience is obviously key! I have a robust variety of games, and these consoles will prove absolutely necessary for the road ahead!
