My Students
My students come from mixed backgrounds of single-parent, traditional family, mixed family, and foster or grandparent care. Common to all is the desire to be given the opportunity to explore and discover critical-thinking skills needed as they transition from being the students of today to the leaders of tomorrow. My students are ambitious, kind and ready to learn cross-cutting science and engineering concepts. Your donation will provide resources for them. We are currently working with our new Science and Engineering 3D standards and utilizing the 5E model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate and Evaluate).
My Project
This project is for a variety of materials that will be useful next year in my class.
First, the dry erase markers and erasers will be used with some dry erase boards I have in my classroom and never used.
I do not have the dry erase markers or erasers to effectively use this resource in my classroom.
The flip chart markers, flip chart paper and glue sticks will be used for creative projects where students can elaborate on the material we are learning in class in a group environment prior to testing on the information individually providing a great opportunity for collaborative learning.
The digital scale will be used in several areas during our conservation of mass unit. Right now we are using some old analog scales which many students struggle with.
The digital clock is also for students to use during each school day. Several students do not know how to read an analog clock and use their cell phones for time checks. Once the cell phone is out they are easily distracted. In order to satisfy their need to follow the time, I would like to hang some analog clocks so they do not need to get those pesky cell phones out during valuable class time.
