Value-Added Products for Entrepreneurship Projects

Help me give my students materials to create value-added products from recycled and agriculture products!

My Project

The materials I’m requesting will empower my students to engage in hands-on projects that address real-world challenges on our island while deepening their understanding of sustainability, agriculture, and innovation:

The shredded paper will be repurposed into firebricks for environmentally friendly barbecuing and used as bedding for composting , teaching students how to up cycle waste and reduce landfill contributions creatively.

The foil pans will facilitate the creation of bioremediation “Genki Balls” and assist in drying vermicast, connecting students to solutions for soil and water restoration while learning the practical applications of composting.

The strawberry jello is a key ingredient for our value-added agriculture project. Students will incorporate strawberries grown on campus to create a strawberry gummy product, preparing for a competition and learning about the economic potential of value-added agriculture. These items will make a difference by helping students see the interconnectedness of waste management, soil health, and food production, all while fostering creativity and problem-solving skills.

By creating firebricks and Genki Balls, students learn to reduce waste and restore polluted areas, addressing the unique environmental challenges faced on an island.

Develop Agricultural and Entrepreneurial Skills: Students will not only grow strawberries but also transform them into a marketable gummy product, gaining insight into value-added agriculture and its role in sustaining local food systems.

Foster a Systems-Thinking Approach: Through these projects, students will see the connections between bioremediation, composting, and agriculture, understanding how these practices can improve their community's resilience.

Empower Students as Changemakers: By working on solutions that directly impact their island, students gain a sense of agency and responsibility, inspiring them to take further action for sustainability.
