My Students
Our students are all so unique, ambitious, and full of creative energy! In our classroom, we currently have 9 children ranging from 7-10 years old. Our students are motivated to learn and love completing hands-on activities!
These students have varying abilities and it is extremely important that we prepare them for the future by teaching valuable life skills through mini cooking lessons within our classroom.
Many of our cooking materials that we’ve been using for the past 8 years have bit the dust and we’d like to replace them!
Our school is located in the inner city part of Philadelphia in an impoverished neighborhood where a lot of children don’t have basic necessities and therefore lack the skills to be successful in today’s world.
As teachers, we strive to fill this gap and give children experiences that they may not have had otherwise.
My Project
This project is to help us replace and add to our old collection of cooking appliances within our classroom. Teaching life skills such as cooking is an extremely important skills for our students to learn in order to help them become independent in their future. These appliances will help us teach our students to cook breakfast and lunch for themselves while also teaching important safety skills used in the kitchen. My students love to cook and look forward to our weekly cooking activities. These items will allow us up o expand on what we currently prepare as well as replace appliances that have broken over the last eight years!
