Valentines for Veterans - Part 2

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

During COVID, our students began helping out our local VA hospital in Northern NJ. We supported the Healthcare Heroes with all of our PPE, 3D printing visors for face shields, and providing food for their families and themselves as they were treating our Veterans who were infected with COVID.

Now, as part of our social-emotional activities, we design custom cards and gifts for our Armed Service members.

Our team has six alumni who are active in our Military. I am requesting stickers, cookies, and other treats for our Valentines for Veterans project so we can send some love to the true Patriot Heroes.

This project will have our students designing customized HERO Valentine's cards with these stickers and we will create gift bags with chocolate, a stuffed animal, and other items that were on a prior DonorsChoose project for our Veterans. Community service activities and designing custom gifts for those in need is a wonderful way for our students to grow socially and emotionally. This project creates teamwork, empathy, and helps our young people to express positive motivation to our Veterans.

We are still unable to deliver them in person, but the students will be sent photos of their adopted Veteran.
