My Students
Our high school is what most places call a "magnet school." Students come from all over the city to take a test in order to attend. Our high school is arguably the most racially diverse with about one-fourth of our students being African-American, Asian, Latino, and White.
More than fifty percent of our students are from families below the federal poverty level.
Nonetheless, we have a one hundred percent college acceptance rate. Our students work hard, but they need more than what the district provides.
My Project
Once our district reopens, students will be expected to spend half their time in school and the other half at home. Students will use laptops in both locations.
This project will help the students by allowing them to clean their laptops with UV lighting, thus reducing the chances of transmitting COVID.
Students will be able to "wave a magic wand" over their electronic devices, which are their most touched items and therefore, the most likely to contain the corona virus.
Plus, we will have UV air purifiers stationed throughout the classroom to help clean the air.
